The 3-inch Ned Worm is a compact floating soft-plastic bass bait for Ned rigs and light jig heads. Choose its short worm profile when you want a smaller presentation for clear water, pressured bass or a tough bite.

Best for: Clear water and tough bites when bass want a smaller profile.

How to fish the Ned Worm

Thread the blunt nose straight onto a Ned head, seat it without bunching the body and leave the tail free. Use an open-hook head on sand, gravel and open banks, or a weedless offset-hook setup around sparse grass and wood edges. Begin with a slow drag, a pause and a tiny shake.

Floating plastic does not guarantee that a rig stands upright. The head, hook, bottom and line tension all affect the presentation, so check the finished rig in shallow water.

Compare Ned baits

This is our shorter 3-inch worm profile in an 8-pack. For a slightly longer bait with a split tail, compare the 3.5-inch floating Split Tail Ned Bullet, 10-pack.

ON-THE-WATER GUIDE

Rig it. Fish it. Adjust.

3-inch Ned Worm

Two practical starting setups for this bait. Choose for the cover and depth, then check the rig beside the bank before casting.

Open-hook Ned rig

For sand, gravel and open banks · exposed hook

123
  1. Nose snug to jig head
  2. Hook point exposed
  3. Tail stays free

Rigging steps

  1. Hold a mushroom-style jig head beside the bait to mark where the hook should come out.
  2. Push the point into the center of the blunt nose and thread it straight down the front of the body.
  3. Bring the point out of the back and seat the nose against the head. Leave the point clear and the tail unhooked.

How to fish it

Drag gently, stop, then give one tiny shake. Or swim slowly, pause and let it glide. The exposed hook is simple to rig but can catch grass and wood.

Weedless Ned rig

For sparse grass and wood edges · offset-hook head

123
  1. Offset-hook Ned head
  2. Point barely tucked
  3. Tail stays free

Rigging steps

  1. Choose a Ned head with an offset hook that fits the body. A weed guard alone is a different setup.
  2. Pierce the nose and come out just behind it. Slide the bait onto the keeper and turn it into line.
  3. Measure the hook against the body, pierce belly-to-back, then lightly tuck the point. Leave room for the bait to compress on a bite.

How to fish it

Move it slowly through gaps and pause. The tucked point helps avoid snags, but the head can still wedge in rocks or catch cover. Do not force a tight snag.

Illustrations show placement, not scale. Dashed hook sections are inside the plastic. Tackle is shown for guidance; check product details for pack contents.
